COM Express module targets display systems

Adlink announced an entry-level, display-oriented Intel Atom-based COM Express module. The Express-AT incorporates a 1.6GHz Atom N270 processor, supports CRT resolution up to 1600 x 1200, and provides a gigabit Ethernet port and two SATA ports, says the company.

Primary applications for the Express-AT are said to be "display-oriented systems" running medical diagnostics, medical imaging, gaming, industrial automation, test and measurement, video preprocessing, or industrial applications. Complying with the COM Express Type 2 format, the module measures 4.9 x 3.7 inches, and offers a seven-year production-life guarantee, says Adlink.

The Intel Atom N270 processor used here is clocked at 1.6Ghz, offers a TDP of 2.5 Watts, and supports Intel SpeedStep and hyper-threading technology, says Adlink. Via the usual Intel 945GSE chipset, the Express-AT is said to support up to 1600 x 1200 resolution on a CRT, offer single/dual channel LVDS, and provide TV out at HDTV resolutions. The module also offers an SDVO bus for connecting to DVI, TMDS, or additional LVDS device controllers, says the company.

The Express-AT supports up to 2GB of DDR2 memory on a single SODIMM socket, and enables connection of up to three additional PCI Express x1 devices, says the company. Meantime, the fourth PCIe lane is dedicated to providing a gigabit Ethernet port. The module also offers two SATA ports, and is said to provide legacy support for a single parallel IDE channel, 32-bit PCI, and LPC.
